Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens (2015) - Storyline:

Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens is the upcoming seventh live-action theatrical Star Wars film and the first film of the sequel trilogy. The film is directed by J.J. Abrams, written by Abrams, Michael Arndt, and Lawrence Kasdan, and produced by Kathleen Kennedy and Bad Robot Productions. The film, which is currently in production, will be released on December 18, 2015. (December 17, in Mexico and the rest of Latin America).Despite initially claiming that the Star Wars story ended in Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi, and spending years refuting speculation that there would be another film, George Lucas began work on the story of Episode VII in 2011 in order to increase the value of Lucasfilm Ltd. before he sold it to The Walt Disney Company. The acquisition was finalized on October 30, 2012, and Disney and Lucasfilm officially announced Episode VII the same day.

The story of Episode VII is not yet known, but it will not be based on Star Wars Legends, formerly known as the Expanded Universe. Rather, it will be an original story set after Return of the Jedi. The film stars Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Peter Mayhew, Anthony Daniels, and Kenny Baker reprising their original roles. The original actors are joined by a host of new actors including John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, and Adam Driver, amongst many others.

Work on “Episode VII” started in Abu Dhabi last month; it was reported earlier this week that “Episode VII” would begin proper production in the United Arab Emirates capital on May 13. The location, perhaps a stand in for Tatooine, Luke Skywalker’s home planet in the original trilogy, might account for the smear of sand on the clapboard. According to tweets from filmmaker Joseph Kahn, the scene Abrams was about to film on day one was likely a visual effects shot.

Per many published reports, there is still one major female role — perhaps the film’s co-lead — yet to be cast. Otherwise, Abrams’ “Star Wars” call sheet is pretty much set: Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher will reprise their roles from the franchise’s original trilogy, joining John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Domhnall Gleeson, Andy Serkis and Max von Sydow in the cast. That's What I'm Talking About: Director Richard Linklater has been widely acclaimed for his indie drama Boyhood, filmed over a period of 12 years. Linklater has now completed filming his next feature, That's What I'm Talking About, and says it is a sequel of sorts to his film Dazed and Confused, beginning four years later. TAKEN 3, 2015 - Storyline:

Liam Neeson returns as ex-covert operative Bryan Mills, whose long awaited reconciliation with his ex-wife is tragically cut short when she is brutally murdered. Consumed with rage, and framed for the crime, he goes on the run to evade the relentless pursuit of the CIA, FBI and the police. For one last time, Mills must use his "particular set of skills," to track down the real killers, exact his unique brand of justice, and protect the only thing that matters to him now - his daughter.

Be warned, sequel fanboys: This thing sucks! If you go by the hype, it all ends here. Hell, it should have ended with Taken 2. But nooooo. Here's Taken 3 to cap a trilogy that gave Liam Neeson a new career lease as ex-CIA black-ops dude Bryan Mills, an action hero impervious to knives, bullets, grenades and death. At 62, Neeson still has a glare that means badass. Nothing else in Taken 3 makes a damn lick of sense. In the first Taken, in 2008, Neeson's killing machine massacred every goon in Paris to rescue his 17-year-old daughter, Kim (Maggie Grace), from Albanian slave traders. In Taken 2, in 2012, pissed-off relatives of those Albanians captured Mills and his ex-wife, Lenore (Famke Janssen), during a vacation in Istanbul. Sheesh. Why doesn't this Los Angeles family stay the fuck home? Silly question. With Mills retired to Enfamil, slippers and C.S.I. reruns, there'd be no way to raid the box office and trade on audience affection for the first movie which was — no lie — a guilty, gritty pleasure.
But Taken 3, people, goes past cashing into cynical exploitation. The new script, by Luc Besson and Robert Mark Kamen, is empty of ideas, fun and purpose. At least, Mills is home in LA. this time, trying to get things going again with Lenore, now unhappily married to a wealthy suit (Dougray Scott). The triangle ends in a murder with Mills getting framed for the crime. There's a lot of running around while Neeson pretends he's in a better movie, The Fugitive, and director Olivier Megaton edits frantically to compensate for the lack of anything really happening. Mills had skills once. No more. The only thing getting taken this time is the audience.
